Entry requirements and visa procedures

Kenya is a visa-free country, replacing traditional visas with a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization for all foreign visitors. Travelers must apply online at etakenya.go.ke before travel. Requirements include a passport valid for six months, a photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, and yellow fever certificate.

Key Requirements & Information:

  • eTA Application: Mandatory for all, including children. Apply at this portal.
  • Validity: The eTA is generally for a single entry for tourism or business up to 90 days, though it can cover multiple entries if visiting specific East African Community states (Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda) without visiting another country.
  • Documentation: Passport (with 2+ blank pages), passport-size photo, booking details, and proof of funds.
  • Health: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if traveling from endemic countries.
  • Visa-Free Exceptions: Citizens of most African countries do not require a visa or eTA for short stays.

Regulations can change. Always verify with the official eTA portal or Kenyan embassy before booking.
